2016 GHSA 6A Baseball Championship Series

UPDATED (Hopefully without technical difficulties this time. Hopefully.)

Last season, Parkview swept Walton to take the 6A crown. All throughout the 2016 campaign, the men from Raider Mountain were on that “mission” we seem to see so often in sports.

In Game 1, Jason Rooks drilled two out of the park, a wall-scraping solo shot:

And an absolute moonshot grand slam

He would finish with a five RBI game. The Raiders created the 11-1 final with a six spot in the top of the seventh. Zac Kristofak recorded the complete-game victory, allowing six hits while walking four and striking out five Greyhounds.

Game 2 delivered the dramatics. Each team scored a single run early with Pope owning a 3-2 lead in the 5th. After Walton tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, Pope’s Mason Meadows scored on an Antonio Jareno sacrifice fly to retake the lead in the top of the seventh, 4-3. Then, in the bottom of the final frame, Jason Avers delivered a two run, one-out single to walk-off and win the state championship.

Below is a link to the walk-off hit. Please forgive the audio, we were fighting it all day…
