2A…With the incredible depth in each classification, this felt like a great time to bring back the old MP and expand to a Top 15. Plus, our customary five honorable mention. So, basically a Top 20…

  1. Benedictine 6-0 (Defeated Jeff Davis 48-0) With Stewart and Powers gone, the Cadets have run almost twice as much as last year.
  2. Fitzgerald 6-0 (Defeated Thomasville 41-14)
  3. Greater Atlanta Christian 6-1 (Defeated Pace Academy 33-13) The Spartans pulled away second half after two turnovers and a 13-12 deficit.
  4. Wesleyan 7-0 (Defeated BEST Academy 10-8) Again: 25+ seniors on this team. They ARE for real.
  5. Rabun County 6-1 (Defeated Oglethorpe Co 60-12) The region championship is on the line this week when they take on #9 Union County.
  6. Darlington 7-0 (Defeated Dade Co 21-10)
  7. Pace Academy 5-2 (Lost to GAC 33-13) The Knights led 13-12 at the half. If not for a few mistakes, they would’ve beaten GAC.
  8. Brooks County 5-2 (Defeated Seminole Co 34-0) Finally hitting their stride?
  9. Union County 7-0 (Defeated Greene Co 49-28) So much better than people know. Now Joseph Mancuso can gain state level attention.
  10. Jefferson County 5-2 (Defeated Metter 48-3) Talk about sneaking up on people. The Warriors have beaten Screven and Dublin.
  11. Screven County 6-1 (Defeated East Laurens 48-13)
  12. Macon County 4-2 (Defeated Monticello 16-10) The next three teams: MC, LC and PC are all in a region together; and still have to play each other.
  13. Lamar County 4-2 (Defeated Bleckley Co 21-7)
  14. Putnam County 6-1 (Defeated NE Macon 33-0)
  15. Model 6-1 (Defeated Armuchee 36-7)

Chris Mooneyham is a twenty-year broadcast veteran employed or freelancing for multiple companies across America. Currently he is a co-host, play-by-play person and guest anchor for Atlanta’s sports leader, The Fan 680AM/ 93.7FM; and its sister stations on The Sports X. In the Fall, Chris serves as the Sideline Reporter for Kennesaw State University football. He also works as studio host, play-by-play announcer and content producer for The Fan’s coverage of Georgia High School football. Come the Wintertime, the focus shifts to the National Lacrosse League 2017 World Champions, the Georgia Swarm (play-by-play). When Spring rolls around, the Atlanta native delivers the play-by-play for the Emory University baseball team, a two-time national finalist. All throughout the year, Mooneyham is a lead play-by-play person for the NFHS Network’s high school sports coverage and over the last decade was honored to call state championships in nearly every sport. A Kennesaw State graduate, Chris holds a Communication degree in Media Studies and a Minor degree in Film Studies. He is also a two-time graduate of broadcasting school (Connecticut School of Broadcasting-1998/ Atlanta Broadcast Institute-2008).
