2A…Remarkably, there isn’t one major top ten impacting game in this classification this week…

  1. Benedictine 1-0 (Idle) This week the Cadets return after a two week layoff.
  2. Greater Atlanta Christian 2-1 (Defeated ELCA 33-3) A bye week provides a much needed break after a tough little run to start the season.
  3. Fitzgerald 3-0 (Defeated Irwin County 35-14) The Purple Hurricane also has a bye week with Macon County on the horizon.
  4. Macon County 2-0 (Defeated Veterans 52-20) Great win versus a tough quarterback.
  5. Pace Academy 3-0 (Defeated Landmark Christian 38-30) great win for the Knights over a 1A Private state title contender.
  6. Wesleyan 3-0 (Defeated Stratford Academy 48-21) The Wolves are also off this week.
  7. Screven County 2-0 (Defeated Westside, Augusta 42-0) The Gamecocks have now outscored two opponents 99-6.
  8. Vidalia 2-1 (Defeated Toombs County 31-20) The Indians now enter a mid-season schedule stretch where they can work on things before Benedictine and season end.
  9. Lamar County 1-1 (Idle) The toughest matchup of their season is this week versus Mary Persons.
  10. Union County 2-0 (Defeated Lumpkin Co 51-28) What a game for QBJoseph Mancuso: 13-26/ 302 yards/ 6 TD passes/ 9 rush/ 119 yards/ TD.

HM: Brooks County 1-2, Rabun Co 2-1, Dublin 2-0, Darlington 2-0

Chris Mooneyham is a twenty-year broadcast veteran employed or freelancing for multiple companies across America. Currently he is a co-host, play-by-play person and guest anchor for Atlanta’s sports leader, The Fan 680AM/ 93.7FM; and its sister stations on The Sports X. In the Fall, Chris serves as the Sideline Reporter for Kennesaw State University football. Come the Wintertime, the focus shifts to the National Lacrosse League 2017 World Champions, the Georgia Swarm (play-by-play). When Spring rolls around, the Atlanta native delivers the play-by-play for the Emory University baseball team, a two-time national finalist. All throughout the year, Mooneyham is a lead play-by-play person for the NFHS Network’s high school sports coverage and over the last decade was honored to call state championships in nearly every sport. A Kennesaw State graduate, Chris holds a Communication degree in Media Studies and a Minor degree in Film Studies. He is also a two-time graduate of broadcasting school (Connecticut School of Broadcasting-1998/ Atlanta Broadcast Institute-2008).
