3A…This week: Elbert County at Westminster, Jefferson at Commerce (1A), Thomson (4A) at Hart County

1. Calhoun 2-0 (Defeated Carrollton 24-20) Absolute survival. The Trojans dictated pace for three quarters; but they lost a 20-3 lead and committed 16 penalties for 115 yards.
2. Blessed Trinity 2-0 (Defeated Sequoyah 28-10) Conor Davis is like a surgeon in that offense. He throws three TD passes and rushes for one…in the first half.
3. Jefferson 3-0 (Defeated North Hall 35-0) Don’t have the numbers at press time but Colby Wood might lead the state in rushing yards.
4. Elbert County 2-0 (Defeated Stephens County 34-30) Yes, Mecole Hardman gets 139 yards and three scores; but the defense won this one in the end.
5. Hart County 2-0 (Defeated Franklin Co 38-25) Nice test coming up: an improved Thomson team from 4A.
6. Oconee County 2-0 (Defeated Athens Christian 41-7) I’ve been saying it all off-season: OC could reach as high as 7-0.
7. Cedar Grove 1-1 (Idle)
8. Westminster 1-1 (Lost to Laney 10-3) The Wildcats played this game without QB Rankin Woley; and he may miss this week vs Elbert County.
9. Peach County 1-1 (Defeated Perry 13-6) The Trojans gave up 184 yards on the ground but shutout the Panthers in the second half.
10. Westside-Macon 2-0 (Defeated Harris Co 30-10) Great barometer ballgame coming up this week vs West Laurens.
