5A…#1 wins its opener, Creekside looks like a contender, and Kell nearly drops out…

  1. Houston County 1-0 (Defeated Veterans 41-13) Offensive performance: check. More importantly-nice performance defensively against a good QB.
  2. Northside, Warner Robins 1-0 (Idle)
  3. Stockbridge 2-0 (Defeated ELCA 28-21) This is a great win over a 1A Private that absolutely could have beaten them.
  4. Lanier 1-0 (Idle)
  5. Creekside 2-0 (Defeated Hughes 30-7) It looks like the Seminoles are back in state title contention.
  6. Ware County 2-0 (Defeated Hampton 37-8) One of three teams will win Region 3: Ware, Glynn Academy or Coffee. Next week, Ware takes a trip to Coffee.
  7. Mays 2-0 (Defeated Glenn Hills 58-0) It may have only been Glenn Hills, but 58 points, and 94 total so far, is important-confidence wise-for a new offense.
  8. Carver, Columbus 2-0 (Defeated Spencer 21-7) This game was far closer than it should have been.
  9. Jones County 1-0 (Defeated Morgan County 30-13) Bradley Hunnicutt is quickly climbing the ladder for best QB’s in the state. Vs MoCo: 15-23/ 300/ 4.
  10. Kell 1-1 (Lost to Lassiter 27-9) This loss snaps a 28-game regular season win streak.

HM: Glynn Academy 2-0, Warner Robins 1-0, East Paulding 2-0, Allatoona 1-1, South Paulding 1-0

Chris Mooneyham is a twenty-year broadcast veteran employed or freelancing for multiple companies across America. Currently he is a co-host, play-by-play person and guest anchor for Atlanta’s sports leader, The Fan 680AM/ 93.7FM; and its sister stations on The Sports X. In the Fall, Chris serves as the Sideline Reporter for Kennesaw State University football. He also works as studio host, play-by-play announcer and content producer for The Fan’s coverage of Georgia High School football. Come the Wintertime, the focus shifts to the National Lacrosse League 2017 World Champions, the Georgia Swarm (play-by-play). When Spring rolls around, the Atlanta native delivers the play-by-play for the Emory University baseball team, a two-time national finalist. All throughout the year, Mooneyham is a lead play-by-play person for the NFHS Network’s high school sports coverage and over the last decade was honored to call state championships in nearly every sport. A Kennesaw State graduate, Chris holds a Communication degree in Media Studies and a Minor degree in Film Studies. He is also a two-time graduate of broadcasting school (Connecticut School of Broadcasting-1998/ Atlanta Broadcast Institute-2008).
