The Mooneyham Poll, GHSA 4A FB rankings…A few really important match ups take place this week…

4A…Marist and St Pius begin the climb back up the standings, Sandy Creek is upset and drops, and West Laurens is a great story…

  1. Buford 2-0 (Defeated Berkmar 77-0) Next, the Wolves put their winning streak on the line versus McEachern.
  2. Cartersville 1-0 (Defeated Cass 41-0) Next, the Canes face an absolutely desperate 0-2 North Cobb team.
  3. Woodward Academy 1-0 (Defeated Decatur 34-6) Next, the War Eagles get ready for an angry 0-1 St Pius team.
  4. Mary Persons 1-0 (Defeated Jackson 28-21 2OT) The Bulldogs scored with 1:17 left and then gave up a kickoff return to tie it.
  5. West Laurens 2-0 (Defeated Vidalia 30-6) Now, the Raiders have beaten both Thomasville and Vidalia 75-6.
  6. Cairo 0-0 (No Contest (Weather) vs Thomasville) The Syrupmakers were up 26-0 only 15 minutes into the game.
  7. Marist 0-1 (Lost to Cocoa, FL 41-21) The War Eagles, and St Pius below, will not finish this low at season’s end…
  8. St Pius X 0-1 (Lost to Blessed Trinity 17-6)…but, because it’s early, they must work their way back up the rankings.
  9. Jonesboro 2-0 (Defeated Sandy Creek 17-15) Finally, QB Zerrick Cooper, the Clemson commit who has missed so much time to injury, has his signature win.
  10. Sandy Creek 1-1 (Lost to Jonesboro 17-15) Just a plain, old fashioned upset.

HM: Griffin 1-0, Stephens County 1-0, Burke County 2-0

Come the Wintertime, the focus shifts to the National Lacrosse League 2017 World Champions, the Georgia Swarm (play-by-play). When Spring rolls around, the Atlanta native delivers the play-by-play for the Emory University baseball team, a two-time national finalist. All throughout the year, Mooneyham is a lead play-by-play person for the NFHS Network’s high school sports coverage and over the last decade was honored to call state championships in nearly every sport. A Kennesaw State graduate, Chris holds a Communication degree in Media Studies and a Minor degree in Film Studies. He is also a two-time graduate of broadcasting school (Connecticut School of Broadcasting-1998/ Atlanta Broadcast Institute-2008).
