The Mooneyham Poll, watching the World Series and recording “30 for 30”, GHSA football 4A…

4A…Woodward shows themselves to be a true contender…

1. Buford 8-0 (defeated North Oconee 58-3) Buford’s defensive side of the ball: the place where top running backs go to die. They held Kawon Bryant to just 27 yards.
2. Griffin 8-0 (defeated Pike County 57-7) I said it on the air last Friday: If there is one team that can beat Buford, it is Griffin with all of their weapons.
3. Woodward Academy 7-1 (Defeated Sandy Creek 28-7) What a contest on 680 The Fan’s FNF. Woodward’s defense was the star. And Holyfield’s 2 touchdowns didn’t hurt.
4. Cartersville 7-1 (Defeated SE Whitefield 48-0)
5. Marist 8-1 (Defeated Columbia 41-0) It says something to dominate a pretty solid team, playing its biggest game of the year.
6. Sandy Creek 7-1 (Lost to Woodward Academy 28-7) SC almost always comes out on the winning side of 50-50 plays; not last Friday.
7. Mary Persons 7-1 (Defeated Veterans 31-0)
8. St Pius 6-2 (Defeated Arabia Mtn 70-38) With Stone Mtn and Redan next, and the tie-breaker on Marist, this win basically clinched the region title.
9. Thomas County Central 6-2 (Defeated Crisp Co 38-0)
10. Cairo 6-2 (Lost to Monroe 21-14)
