The Mooneyham Poll survived the weather…GHSA football, 4A…

4A…Marist falls 5 spots after their loss to St Pius; but more importantly, unless Pius loses twice, that game decided the region title…

1. Buford 6-0 (Defeated North Hall 56-0) This was the third shutout of the year for the Wolves; and they’ve allowed a total of 37 points.
2. Sandy Creek 6-0 (Defeated Whitewater 30-14) The Patriots start region play with a really nice win. Hard to tell how tough that region actually is, but in two weeks they meet #4 Woodward.
3. Griffin 6-0 (Defeated Mt Zion-Jonesboro 48-16)
4. Woodward Academy 5-1 (Defeated Troup 42-24)
5. Cartersville 5-1 (Defeated Ridgeland 40-6) In the summer, a Cartersville coach told me “quietly” that Freshman QB Trevor Lawrence was a future star. He was right.
6. Thomas County Central 5-1 (Defeated Albany 50-13) TCC and #7 Cairo meet this week for region supremacy…
7. Cairo 5-1 (Defeated Crisp Co 31-0)…the Syrupmakers go on the road to #6 TCC.
8. Marist 6-1 (Lost to St Pius 10-9) Some will see Marist here and St Pius in the HM and be confused. It is the body of work, the schedule, which favors Marist.
9. Whitewater 4-2 (Lost to Sandy Creek 30-14) The Wildcats were in this game until midway through the 4th quarter.
10. Mary Persons 5-1 (Defeated Howard 47-7)

HM: St Pius 4-2 (Defeated Marist 10-9), Columbia 5-2 (Defeated Grady 28-22), Pickens 5-1 (Defeated SE Whitfield 62-40), North Oconee 4-2 (Defeated Monroe Area 35-17), Upson-Lee 5-1 (Defeated Perry 42-14), Eagles Landing 5-1 (Defeated Hampton 42-6), West Laurens 5-2 (Defeated Veterans 28-23)
