The Mooneyham Poll…enjoying post season baseball with no threat of heartbreak…GHSA 5A

5A…I have Allatoona at #3, Lanier ranked, and have been trumpeting Mays all year. And apparently the rest of the state sort of agrees.

1. Ware County 5-0 (Defeated Bradwell Institute 33-0)
2. Creekside 4-1 (Idle) Corey Jarvis (perhaps the most underrated coach in 5A) and his Mays Raiders (perhaps the most underrated team in 5A) are next. Careful now.
3. Allatoona 5-0 (Defeated South Paulding 33-13) This dominating victory may have just won the region championship.
4. Coffee 4-1 (Defeated Effingham Co 58-26) They may remain at this spot the rest of the year.
5. Kell 5-0 (Defeated Cambridge 28-27) The Longhorns nab the victory with a 40-yard hail-Mary at the gun; and they may have just won the region championship.
6. Lanier 5-0 (Defeated Loganville 28-14) The Longhorns have already beaten three of the five teams that have owned this region for years. Gainesville is next.
7. Carver, Columbus 4-1 (Defeated Columbus 36-0) JR QB Juwon Pass, one of the top players in America for 2016, with three TD passes…in the second quarter.
8. Northside, Warner Robins 4-1 (Defeated Greenbrier 55-0) And so begins the slow climb.
9. Mays 4-1 (Defeated Lovejoy 40-35) The Raiders trailed 14-0 at one point; next they get Creekside. They can absolutely beat Creekside.
10. Jones County 5-0 (Defeated Grovetown 45-7) HC Justin Rogers offense is averaging 48 PPG.

HM: Stephenson 2-2 (Idle) The most frustrating team in the state, Alexander 4-0 (Defeated Lithia Springs 24-14), South Paulding 3-1 (Lost to Allatoona 33-13), Houston County 4-1 (Lost to Lakeside, Evans 24-20)

Come the Wintertime, the focus shifts to the National Lacrosse League 2017 World Champions, the Georgia Swarm (play-by-play). When Spring rolls around, the Atlanta native delivers the play-by-play for the Emory University baseball team, a two-time national finalist. All throughout the year, Mooneyham is a lead play-by-play person for the NFHS Network’s high school sports coverage and over the last decade was honored to call state championships in nearly every sport. A Kennesaw State graduate, Chris holds a Communication degree in Media Studies and a Minor degree in Film Studies. He is also a two-time graduate of broadcasting school (Connecticut School of Broadcasting-1998/ Atlanta Broadcast Institute-2008).
