1A Private…For the uninitiated: Both 1A Public and Private use power rankings to determine playoff teams. Because of this year’s balance, there will be more anger than usual regarding seeding and teams left out of the playoffs.

1. Aquinas 4-0 (Defeated Stratford Academy 28-27) Last Friday, Coach Leonard told us on the air, “We should have lost that game”. SA’s missed an extra point was the difference.
2. Mt Paran 4-0 (Defeated King’s Ridge 56-13) Dorian Walker goes north of 200 rushing yards and solidifies himself as a top five RB in the classification.
3. Landmark Christian 4-0 (Defeated Josey 55-20) An intriguing matchup with 3A ranked club Central, Carrollton next week.
4. Savannah Christian 4-0 (Defeated Treutlen 50-0) With this team at #4, that shows how strong the top of the class is.
5. Calvary Day 3-0 (Defeated Johnson Co 9-8) I hate to drop a team three spots after a win; but the three ahead are just too impressive.
6. Mt Pisgah 2-1 (Idle) They have a really nice matchup with Christian Heritage next.
7. Pacelli 4-0 (Defeated Greenville 35-26)
8. Tattnall Square 4-0 (Defeated Hancock Central 28-8)
9. Brookstone 2-1 (Lost to Hawkinsville 33-7) The loss here is fine; it’s the score that is out of place.
10. Athens Christian 2-2 (Defeated Prince Ave 42-32)

Chris Mooneyham is a twenty-year broadcast veteran employed or freelancing for multiple companies across America. Currently he is a co-host, play-by-play person and guest anchor for Atlanta’s sports leader, The Fan 680AM/ 93.7FM; and its sister stations on The Sports X. In the Fall, Chris serves as the Sideline Reporter for Kennesaw State University football. He also works as studio host, play-by-play announcer and content producer for The Fan’s coverage of Georgia High School football. Come the Wintertime, the focus shifts to the National Lacrosse League 2017 World Champions, the Georgia Swarm (play-by-play). When Spring rolls around, the Atlanta native delivers the play-by-play for the Emory University baseball team, a two-time national finalist. All throughout the year, Mooneyham is a lead play-by-play person for the NFHS Network’s high school sports coverage and over the last decade was honored to call state championships in nearly every sport. A Kennesaw State graduate, Chris holds a Communication degree in Media Studies and a Minor degree in Film Studies. He is also a two-time graduate of broadcasting school (Connecticut School of Broadcasting-1998/ Atlanta Broadcast Institute-2008).
