1A Public…Six of the back eight, from #7 through the Honorable Mention, lost last week. I echo the “header” from 1A Private. Come the last power ranking release, the bottom teams will not be happy.

1. Marion County 3-0 (Defeated Columbus 34-31) No disrespect to Columbus, even versus a 5A team, this was too close.
2. Charlton County 4-0 (Defeated Atkinson County 33-0) This was a nice win versus a solid, potential playoff team.
3. Hawkinsville 4-0 (Defeated Brookstone 33-7) Brookstone is a 1A Private-Top 10 team; so a score like this tells us a lot about how good these guys can be.
4. Dooly County 3-1 (Defeated Central, Talbotton 55-12)
5. Commerce 3-1 (Defeated Athens academy 27-20) Geez, I cannot put my finger on this team.
6. Irwin County 2-1-1 (Defeated Clinch County 47-7)
7. ECI 3-1 (Lost to Claxton 29-23) This loss, and Trion’s below, should not be concerning. At least, not yet.
8. Trion 3-1 (Lost to Pinecrest Academy 21-14)
9. Lincoln County 2-2 (Defeated Twiggs County 41-13)
10. Jenkins County 4-0 (Defeated Wheeler Co 22-13) One of the best stories in the early part of the 1A year.

HM: Randolph-Clay 2-2 (Lost to Turner Co 32-16), Atkinson Co 3-1 (Lost to Charlton Co 33-0), Turner Co 2-2 (Lost to Telfair Co 34-13), Clinch Co 1-3 (Lost to Irwin Co 47-7)

Chris Mooneyham is a twenty-year broadcast veteran employed or freelancing for multiple companies across America. Currently he is a co-host, play-by-play person and guest anchor for Atlanta’s sports leader, The Fan 680AM/ 93.7FM; and its sister stations on The Sports X. In the Fall, Chris serves as the Sideline Reporter for Kennesaw State University football. He also works as studio host, play-by-play announcer and content producer for The Fan’s coverage of Georgia High School football. Come the Wintertime, the focus shifts to the National Lacrosse League 2017 World Champions, the Georgia Swarm (play-by-play). When Spring rolls around, the Atlanta native delivers the play-by-play for the Emory University baseball team, a two-time national finalist. All throughout the year, Mooneyham is a lead play-by-play person for the NFHS Network’s high school sports coverage and over the last decade was honored to call state championships in nearly every sport. A Kennesaw State graduate, Chris holds a Communication degree in Media Studies and a Minor degree in Film Studies. He is also a two-time graduate of broadcasting school (Connecticut School of Broadcasting-1998/ Atlanta Broadcast Institute-2008).
