4A…Behind Buford, there are two groups of contenders. The separation line is tough to see.

1. Buford 4-0 (Defeated White County 42-10) Can we set up a matchup with Colquitt County after the season?
2. Marist 4-0 (Defeated Stone Mountain 56-0) I said it last week and I’ll say it again: Marist has had a tougher schedule so far; that’s why they top S Creek and Griffin.
3. Sandy Creek 4-0 (Defeated Newnan 31-14) That schedule thing I just mentioned begins to shift in SC’s favor over the next two weeks.
4. Griffin 4-0 (Defeated Hampton 50-6) Regarding schedule: only one tough matchup so far.
5. Woodward Academy 3-1 (Defeated Clarkston 57-0) Elijah Holyfield is perhaps the most improved player in the state. He scored four more touchdowns last week.
6. Whitewater 3-1 (Defeated ELCA 21-7) This is the where the line is between the first and second group? Although, which side are the Wildcats on?
7. Cartersville 2-1 (Idle)
8. Cairo 3-1 (Defeated Westover 20-19)
9. Thomas County Central 2-1 (Defeated Bainbridge 20-10)
10. Eagles Landing 4-0 (Defeated Spalding 26-16)
HM: St Pius 1-2 (Idle) Still a top 10 team at year’s end, Mary Persons 3-1 (Defeated LaGrange 24-6), Pickens 3-0 (Defeated Johnson, Gainesville 49-6) RB Shannon Brooks has turned in a tremendous career. Go find his highlights.

Chris Mooneyham is a twenty-year broadcast veteran employed or freelancing for multiple companies across America. Currently he is a co-host, play-by-play person and guest anchor for Atlanta’s sports leader, The Fan 680AM/ 93.7FM; and its sister stations on The Sports X. In the Fall, Chris serves as the Sideline Reporter for Kennesaw State University football. He also works as studio host, play-by-play announcer and content producer for The Fan’s coverage of Georgia High School football. Come the Wintertime, the focus shifts to the National Lacrosse League 2017 World Champions, the Georgia Swarm (play-by-play). When Spring rolls around, the Atlanta native delivers the play-by-play for the Emory University baseball team, a two-time national finalist. All throughout the year, Mooneyham is a lead play-by-play person for the NFHS Network’s high school sports coverage and over the last decade was honored to call state championships in nearly every sport. A Kennesaw State graduate, Chris holds a Communication degree in Media Studies and a Minor degree in Film Studies. He is also a two-time graduate of broadcasting school (Connecticut School of Broadcasting-1998/ Atlanta Broadcast Institute-2008).
